With the Allam British Open almost upon us England Squash & Racketball has announced a raft of promotions to ensure that the event connects with both the local and the wider squash community.
Monday: Kids go Free
To kick start the week, Monday evening will be family friendly ‘Kids Go Free’ so if you have children that are keen squash players or maybe just mad about sport then get them down to the Airco Arena to witness the some of the world’s finest athletes compete in the oldest and most prestigious squash event on the world calendar.
And what a treat is in store for those who make it – Yorkshire’s own former World No1 James Willstrop, back from injury, taking on the current World No1 Mohamed Elshorbagy of Egypt in the stand out match of the first round.
Also that evening will see three times World Champion and fellow Yorkshireman Nick Matthew begin his quest for a phenomenal fourth British Open title – surely an evening not to be missed.
Tuesday: Hull University night
The University of Hull is a major partner of the Allam British Open and is hosting the Pre-Qualification, Qualification and two days of Main Draw matches before they turn their attention to the full masters championship.
To help recognise this partnership, Tuesday will be Hull University Night and it is hoped that many students and people associated with the university will make the short trip across the city to be part of what promises to be one of the most competitive and hard fought competitions of recent years.
Wednesday: Yorkshire Squash Night
To celebrate the success and strength of squash within the county, Wednesday is Yorkshire Squash Night with everyone associated with squash in Yorkshire being urged to attend and watch the stars of the professional game in action on the fantastic ASB all glass show-court. In addition to the professional action, 2014/15 Yorkshire League presentations will take place in front what is hoped will be a large and vocal Yorkshire audience.
Thursday: North West Counties Evening
Last but not least, Thursday will see visitors make the quick climb over the Pennines to be part of North West Counties Evening. The North West Counties is the largest squash league in the world and this is their chance to be part of the Allam British Open 2015.
A fantastic week of squash is in store in Hull from 11-17 May and there is still time to get your tickets and watch the world’s best fight it out for the honour of being crowned British Open champion.
