The Platinum World Series Event will see newly crowned World Champion Ramy Ashour take on Sheffield’s triple World Champion Nick Matthew and Pontefract’s former World No.1 James Willstrop on their home turf. They will all have to wrestle the British Open title from the grasp of French maestro Greg Gaultier, but tournament favourite is likely to be World No.1 Mohamed Elshorbagy who will be hungry for his first British Open title.

The sport’s oldest tournament also welcomes the world’s best female players to East Yorkshire. Having now been World No.1 for an incredible 100 months, Malaysian starlet Nicol David remains the one to beat, but will be severely tested by England’s No.1 Laura Massaro and National Champion Alison Waters as well as a host of exciting young Egyptian players.

With all these stars in action it should be some week of squash!
