The British Open Championship is once again ‘Open’ to all British players as dates are set for a Pre Qualifying event in Hull.
The tournament will be run on 3rd and 4th May at Hull University’s Sport Centre which was re developed in 2013 into a modern state of the art facility with 5 glass back courts.
In the true spirit of an ‘Open’ event, the pre-qualifying tournament for both the men and women will give any player who enters, professional or amateur a chance to go on and compete in this historic Championship.
Providing an opportunity for club and county level players to become a part of the Allam British Open, the winner of the event will progress into the main event qualification draw alongside world ranked players from the PSA and WSA world tours.
Chris Nutley, Tournament Director commented:
“England Squash & Racketball are delighted that our event partner The University of Hull have agreed to host a Pre Qualification event, enabling more players to participate in and be part of the Allam British Open.”
The University Sports Centre will also be home to the British Open Qualifying, Women’s Main Draw first round matches and hundreds of players who will compete in the British Open Masters tournament.
Steve Curtis, Sports Development Manager at the University of Hull commented:
“The University of Hull is immensely proud to be playing a bigger role in the Allam British Open Championships this year following on from the success of our involvement in 2013. We are excited at the prospect of hosting the qualifying rounds and especially Round 1 of the Women’s main draw.
“It will be great for the local community to see the world’s top players playing on the Campus and at the same time creating some fantastic opportunities for our students to volunteer in the event. We are also pleased to be hosting the Masters event again, last year’s event was fantastic, with so many players form across the world coming together to compete at such a high level. A real show case of a sporting habit for life with an excellent social feel.
“We hope competitors and spectators alike will enjoy visiting the University campus, taking in the squash and maybe enjoying the food and drink on offer.”
Please Note: All PSA/WSA registered players must have already entered the Allam British Open through PSA/WSA to be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
