British Open Court Partner announced as ASB/Courtcraft

England Squash & Racketball (ESR) has entered in to a three year partnership with leading squash court manufacturer ASB and its UK distributor Courtcraft to supply the all glass ‘Show Court’ to the Allam British Open Championships in the London Piazza, O2 Arena, 14-20 May 2012. As part of the agreement, ASB will also be the Official Court Partner to Birmingham’s World Masters 2012 in July.

The German company, formed in 1965 by Horst Babinsky, was an early pioneer of modular building construction and since 1976 has put that experience to very good effect in the construction of premium squash courts across the globe.

Regarded as an innovator in the development of the glass show court, used in international tournaments around the world today ASB created the ‘Z’ Court with its maroon shading which was recently seen to magnificent effect in Sky Sports live coverage of the PSA World Series Finals at Queen’s Club in January.

ASB in conjunction with Courtcraft will be constructing the Allam British Open Court, which promises to be the most modern and technically advanced court in the world.

Horst Babinsky, ASB CEO commented; “We are proud to be the Official Court Partner to this famous squash championship, the Allam British Open. With our enthusiasm for innovation, we are committed to keeping our market edge, constantly updating and developing our courts to ensure that our products enhance the sporting experience of the athletes and the fans who come to watch.”

Thomas Smith, Managing Director, Courtcraft commented “We are delighted to have been chosen to partner England squash & Racketball for the construction of the ASB show court at such prestigious tournaments for the next three years. To be recognised by ESR is testament to our philosophy of delivering high quality products & services throughout the UK.”

Nick Rider, Chief Executive of England Squash & Racketball added; “England Squash & Racketball is delighted to have reached an agreement with ASB & Courtcraft which, for the next three years will guarantee that the world’s best players set foot in to arguably the world’s best show court in the world’s best competitions – and all here in England.

In a competitive tender process we were impressed by the continued innovation of ASB in construction, colour schemes and flooring. They demonstrated a clear regard for both the player and the enjoyment of the public. I have no doubt that the ASB British Open Court will add a little bit sparkle to a terrific event.”
