Lansdowne Club hosts British Open players again

England Squash & Racketball are delighted to announce a partnership between the Allam British Open and the world renowned Lansdowne Club, which will play host to the competing players on their days off from the O2 Arena.

The relationship was first kindled more than 65 years ago when the Lansdowne Club actually hosted the Open Championship itself. In fact, legend Hashim Khan won all 7 of his British Open titles there and Jonah Barrington lifted the title the last time it was played at the Club in 1968.

The club has recently completed a £3 million refurbishment of the gym, squash courts & sports area and now offers some of the finest facilities in the West End. As well as being able to enjoy first class gym & swimming pool facilties, the players will be able to practice on the famous Bruce Court, scene of those earlier Open finals.

Club Secretary Mark Anderson said ‘We are delighted to welcome the world’s greatest squash players to the Lansdowne. We have a long squash tradition and have enjoyed great success in the Bath Cup in recent years and this is another stepping-stone to putting the club well & truly back on the squash map, and building a long term relationship with England Squash & Racketball.’
