The British Open Championship is ‘Open’ again to all players – England Squash & Racketball today announces the dates for four pre-qualification tournaments in the run up to the 2012 Allam British Open, London Piazza, O2 Arena in May.
In the truest spirit of an ‘Open’ event, the pre-qualifying tournaments for both the men’s and women’s draw take the British Open back to its roots and rekindle the prospect that absolutely any player, professional or amateur could win this historic Championship.
Providing an opportunity for club and county level players to become a part of the Allam British Open, the winner of each event will progress into the main event qualification draw alongside world ranked players from the PSA and WSA world tours, from which the top eight players will join the world’s leading players in the Allam British Open Championships.
Given the return to London of the Allam British Open, the pre-qualification initiative is being heavily supported by county squash associations and clubs in the London and South East, dates and venues are:
20-22 April: The Connaught Club, Essex (Men’s & Women’s Draws)
20-22 April: The Parklangley Club, Kent (Men’s Draw)
27-29 April: K2 Leisure Centre, Sussex (Men’s & Women’s Draws)
27-29 April: Finchley Manor Squash Club, Middlesex (Men’s Draw)
Paul Fennell, Regional Development Manager for England Squash & Racketball commented; “I am delighted that, the Allam British Open is being thrown open to regular players with pre-qualifying tournaments.
